PROJECT BACKGROUND

International Labour Organization's (ILO's) South Asia Leadership in Entrepreneurship (SALE) Project will promote entrepreneurship in Sri Lanka and Nepal as a desirable career option for youth. Working with local institutions, SALE will encourage entrepreneurship and an enabling environment for business. Focussing on the digital economy and e- commerce, SALE will support youth's entry into this sector and provide them with training and raise awareness of the opportunities this sector offers through campaigns, competitions and mentoring programmes.

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) act as the principal implementing partner of SALE Project. This partnership aims to boost young people's transition into the entrepreneurial world and create a shift in the entrepreneurial ecosystem through several strategic interventions.

OBJECTIVE OF THE ASSIGNMENT

The project has multifaceted objectives to promote an entrepreneurship culture amongst youth age between 15 to 24 in Sri Lanka. A key intervention of the SALE project is to enhance interest in and knowledge of entrepreneurism and increase capacity of young men and women, who are potential entrepreneurs, to develop and manage businesses. The project in collaboration with the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce aims to provide customized ILO's Know About Business (KAB) and Start Your Business (SYB) training to interested youth from schools, Vocational Training Institutions and Universities in six selected districts (Galle, Gampaha, Ratnapura, Trincomalee, Kandy and Puttalam) reaching at least 2,500 students, during the project period (From August 2022 - up to December 2023)

The ILO's KAB training module is especially designed to inculcate an entrepreneurial mindset for youth, and used globally. The ILO's SYB training module is a Business Planning and start-up training program aimed at potential Micro, Small and Medium (MSME) entrepreneurs, who are interested in starting their own business and already have a feasible business idea. Under the project, the KAB & SYB modules have been assessed and improved to match with the current needs of the younger generation in Sri Lanka to contribute towards the creation of an enterprise culture amongst them.

To deliver this activity, SALE project wishes to recruit a panel of qualified and experienced trainers in Sri Lanka to provide training to enhance knowledge and skills on entrepreneurship amongst youths in selected districts in Sri Lanka.

ILO and CCC will strengthen the capacity of trainers through:
